What is the project scope?
The full project automates the AP invoice lifecycle across 5 layers. Our team specifically handles ERP SOAP Integration (Layer 3) and Scaling & Reliability (Layer 5). The technical head manages core logic, AI extraction, and matching engine.
What is SOAP/WSDL integration?
SOAP is the communication protocol for the ERP system. We use WSDL files to discover operations, then construct XML SOAP envelopes. Read: Fetch POs and GRNs. Write: Post invoices and update status. Security via WS-Security (UsernameToken or X.509).
What is 3-Way Matching?
Validates invoices against three documents: (1) Invoice — vendor bill, (2) Purchase Order — what was ordered, (3) Goods Receipt Note — what was received. Must align within tolerance thresholds before payment approval.
How are exceptions handled?
8 categories: Amount mismatch, Quantity variance, Missing PO, Duplicate invoice, Tax discrepancy, Unknown vendor, Missing GRN, Currency issue. Each has configurable routing for auto-resolve, manual review, or management escalation.
What are the success measures?
Processing accuracy ≥95%, Straight-through rate ≥70%, Processing time <5 min/invoice, Exception reduction 60%, Complete audit trail, Zero data loss in SOAP integration.
What technology is used?
Orchestration: n8n. SOAP: Python zeep + lxml. AI: Gemini 3. OCR: Cloud Vision / Tesseract. DB: PostgreSQL. Queue: Redis. Deploy: Docker Compose on AWS.
